Dr. Jitendra Singh, Hon'ble Minister for Science & Technology & PMO, Government of India Delivers Inspiring Address to Audience
Dr Jitendra Singh, who presided over the anniversary function as Chief Guest, praised the “enabling efforts” of ABLE to help the nation’s BioEconomy to grow to nearly $ 100 billion in early 2023. Dr Singh also highlighted the efforts ABLE member companies in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic by providing critical vaccines not just for India but for many other countries in dire need.
On the occasion, Dr Jitendra Singh, released a special Coffee Table Book, Enablers of Indian Biotech, brought out by ABLE to mark the 20th Anniversary celebrations. The publication showcases the key companies, research institutions, organizations and other enabling activities that have helped the growth of the industry in the last few decades to be one of the very highly innovative bio ecosystems in the world.

Dr. Rajesh Gokhale, Secretary of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, Shares Insights with Engaged Audience
The Secretary, Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Dr Rajesh S Gokhale, delivered a powerful key note on “High Performance Biomanufacturing During Amrit-Kaal : A game changer for India”.
Dr Gokhale emphasized how India’s biotech ecosystems could leverage its innate strengths and deliver on this aspect. The nation has set a target of achieving at least $ 100 billion only from Biomanufacturing by 2025.

Dr Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Hon. Non-Executive Chairperson, ABLE & Executive Chairperson, Biocon and Biocon Biologics
ABLE’s Co-founder and honorary chairperson, Dr Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw (Founder of Biocon Group) highlighted the various innovative developments by the nation’s strong and fast-growing biotech industry. She dwelled at length the opportunities that await entrepreneurs in the biotech field offered by the combination of genomics, data analytics, healthcare solutions. Biofuels and new energy sources are there to tap. She also explained how agritech will shape the nation’s economy in the future. Also, the new developments using CRISPR-Cas tools, cell and gene therapies under development in the country offer huge hope.

Mr GS Krishnan, Hon. President, ABLE
Mr. GS Krishnan provided an insightful overview of the journey that the Association of Biotechnology Led Enterprises (ABLE) has taken over the past two decades. He highlighted the organization's focus areas, including advocacy initiatives, sector development, institutional support, and ABLE regional chapters. Additionally, Mr. Krishnan emphasized ABLE's accomplishments since 2003, which include successful member startups and various activities that have contributed to the growth of India's biotechnology industry. Furthermore, Mr. Krishnan shed light on the remarkable growth of India's biotechnology industry. Bio-pharmaceuticals were identified as the largest contributor, followed by Bio-industrial, Bio-agri, and CRO/Bio-IT/Research. His presentation provided valuable insights into ABLE's role in promoting and supporting the biotechnology industry in India, and the tremendous potential for future growth in this field.
