India's biggest Biotech Event, "GLOBAL BIO-INDIA 2019", to be held on November 21-23 at Aerocity, New Delhi

 

Curtain Raiser for Global Bio-India 2019

The inaugural edition of the annual Global Bio-India 2019 will take place from 21-23 November 2019 at Aerocity, New Delhi. The official announcements for the Global Bio-India 2019, the most important biotechnology event in India, were made in a curtain-raiser event  October 24, 2019 in New Delhi.

The Global Bio-India 2019 will be one of the largest congregation of biotechnology stakeholders in the country. Announcing this at a Curtain Raiser in Delhi on Thursday, Dr Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister for Science & Technology, Earth Sciences and Health & Family Welfare said, “India, for the first time, is hosting a mega event for the biotech community to attract investments, showcase our indigenous strengths and more importantly fuel the hopes and aspirations of the indigenous talent pool.” Dr Harsh Vardhan also expressed India’s continued commitment to scientific research, translation research, and commercialization. He emphasized on the importance of this event and the huge opportunity this platform gives to showcase India’s strength and build new partnerships and investment opportunities.

The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India along with its Public Sector Undertaking, Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) is organizing Global Bio-India 2019 from 2123 November 2019 at Aerocity, New Delhi in partnership with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Association of Biotech Led Enterprises (ABLE), and Invest India.

Echoing similar sentiments, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Dr RenuSwarup stated “Biotech is one of the identified champion sectors in the Make in India 2.0. Our ambition for the event is to showcase the strength in the sector and let the world know India is the destination to invest”.

Biotechnology sector is recognized as one of the key drivers for contributing to India’s economy target of USD 5 Trillion by 2024 and is poised to grow exponentially over the next decade. Policy initiatives undertaken by the Indian government, such as Make in India program, are aimed to develop India as a world-class Biotechnology innovation and Bio-manufacturing hub. India is among the Top 12 destinations for biotechnology in the world valued at USD 51 Billion during 2018-19.

Recognizing the importance of this sector, Global Bio-India 2019 would deliberate on the opportunities and key challenges in the areas of Bio-pharma, Bio-Agri, BioIndustrial, Bio-Energy and Bio-Services sectors. Salient components of Global BioIndia 2019 would include events such as Bio-partnering, Policy dialogues, CEO Roundtable, Global Regulators Meet, Investors Roundtable, Exhibition/ Pavilion including Country, Ministries, Departments, States, Startups, and others.

The event is expected to draw about 3500+ delegates from across the globe connecting Indian Biotechnology ecosystem with International ecosystem. This mega international congregation of biotechnology stakeholders, including International bodies, Regulatory bodies, Central and State Ministries, Large Industries, SMEs, Innovation Clusters, Research Institutes, Investors, Startup Ecosystem and others.

Globally large number of such events are organized in which Indian Biotech Industry, scientists, entrepreneurs, academia showcases their innovation. Time is apt for India to showcase to the world our biotech sector prowess, growth potential for the ecosystem to scale and become global hub for innovation and manufacturing.


Considering the Government’s commitment in scientific research, its translation and commercialization, this event would be a huge opportunity to showcase India’s strength and build new partnerships and investment opportunities.


The event is expected to strengthen the indigenous research and development capabilities, bio-entrepreneurship, investments at Centre & State level, and integration of innovative affordable products and technologies for the last-mile-delivery across India including tier-2, 3 cities and rural areas.
